Inspired by feminist and decolonial epistemologies, in this chapter I seek to understand how this bodily experience of transformation contributes to producing situated knowledges in the city. The starting points for this reflection are the female favela inhabitants with whom I spent many months, between 2016 and 2019, reflecting on the city. In the course of my research, it became clear that the polymorphism of the female inhabitants I met was closely linked to the way they cared for themselves, others and their environment, as well as the way they protected themselves from violence. This chapter therefore proposes a reflection on “translocas” based on the notion of care, which links these two dimensions. For the women of the favelas, caring has a specific meaning, not only because they belong to a certain social class, race, gender or space, but also because caring is a way of constructing their own subjectivity, a subjectivity that develops with their urban translocations.
