Faire des jeunes des quartiers populaires des acteurs de l’histoire

The exhibition “Faire des jeunes des quartiers populaires des acteurs de l’histoire” was produced as part of the POP PART 2 participative research project with young people from Clichy sous Bois and other towns in Seine-Saint-Denis (France). Its guiding theme is commitment. The 10 panels show the links the young people forged through workshops and study trips (to Lyon, Marseille, Atlanta) between 2 anniversaries: 1) the 40th anniversary of the 1983 March for Equality and Against Racism, emblematic of struggles in working-class neighborhoods and immigrant mobilizations in France; 2) the 60th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington, emblematic of civil rights struggles in the USA. The young people also made the connection with the history of the ACLEFEU collective (Association Collectif Liberté Égalité Fraternité Ensemble Unis), created during the great social revolts of 2005, and with those that exploded in France in June-July 2023.
