Cécile Van de Velde
This article proposes a sociological deconstruction of the NEET category: it draws on an international qualitative survey of young adults living in urban areas (Paris, Madrid, Montreal, Santiago de Chile, Hong Kong), to highlight the diversity of social experiences associated with being NEET. It shows that this category refers to at least three contrasting meanings within life courses: “alternative”, “suspension” or “dead end”.
