Organization of the participatory literary cartography workshop “A small piece of the city”. The objective of the workshop was to reconfigure Mexico City from the reading of different literary fragments, through two cartographic exercises. Subsequently, they were asked to locate those places on a collective map, and then paint on a blank tile a drawing of what the fragment reminded them of, made them think about, or imagined. Finally, they were invited to place their drawing on a large canvas to recompose Mexico City. Little by little, the fabric was filled with tiles, giving life to a new space composed of different ways of reading the city. It was a day rich in participants, ideas and exchanges. After the workshop, we created two maps. Both reflect the different ways in which Mexico City is lived and felt. At the same time, they allow us to recognize how we compose the city on a daily basis, based on stories, emotions, memories and fantasies.
